Preserving Edinburgh's cycling legacy through education, restoration, and museum excellence
Advancing public education on the history of cycles and cycling through carefully curated exhibits, restoration projects, and community engagement in Scotland's capital
Since our constitutional formation on 21st May 1997, the Hufstetler Cycling Heritage Trust has been Edinburgh's dedicated guardian of cycling history. We bridge the past and present, transforming forgotten bicycles and memorabilia into educational treasures.
Operating from South Morton Street in Edinburgh, we serve as both archive and educator, acquiring, restoring, and preserving cycling artefacts whilst maintaining rigorous standards of museum-quality presentation and interpretation.
Our charitable purpose extends beyond Edinburgh's borders, supporting global initiatives that advance arts, heritage, culture, and science in the cycling community.
"Every bicycle tells a story. Every restoration preserves a legacy. Every exhibit educates a generation."
Three core programmes drive our mission to preserve and share cycling heritage
We acquire, restore, and present bicycles and cycling memorabilia in museum settings, creating educational experiences that bring cycling history to life for the public.
Expert restoration and conservation of bicycles and memorabilia, employing specialist techniques to preserve cycling heritage for future generations with meticulous attention to authenticity.
Maintaining and encouraging public education through interpretation notices, workshops, and community engagement that increases awareness and appreciation of cycling history and culture.
